Kintsugi 2020 - Lise Bixler

Last year, while people tried desperately to fix the cracks of our world (the pandemic, the homes and memories destroyed in our lightning fire, the loss of comforting connections), I woke up most days instantly consumed with just one grief: the loss of a long and precious friendship. Healing has been slow – perhaps art will help. Here I try my version of kintsugi. May I have more gold, please. Even glitter will do. This piece will be framed by a shadow box, with the charred branches dangling outside of the frame box, so I can add more memories as time passes.
